The Reduce Non Value Added Work dashboard enables you to identify and eliminate work items that do not add any value to your product. This could be work items that are canceled after work has been done on them, reopened defects, or unapproved work items. These type of work items add to your overall project cost (in terms of resources and cost) without adding any significant value, diverting resources from value-added work.
Using this dashboard, value stream managers can look into these categories of work items, analyze, and potentially eliminate or reduce the number of work items. You can view a list of projects along with the number of non value added WI, non value added WI %, and the opportunity rank that helps you understand projects that present a higher chance of non value added work clean-up. You can also see the trend of non value added work month wise, and analyze whether the teams have been doing well in eliminating non value added work; or if more of non value added work is being added to the backlog month on month.

The Reduce Non Value Added Work dashboard displays data in four separate tabs. Each tab provides detailed information about one particular category of non value added work. The four tabs are:
You can use the filter in the dashboard to analyze information related to specific Projects or Engineering Managers. The dashboard supports hierarchy in case of filtering results based on Engineering Managers (up to three levels by default).
This chapter gives you details about non value added work. It gives you an overall view of the non value added work items, percentage of non value added work items, and opportunity rank, categorized based on the concerned project. The opportunity rank tells you which projects have the greatest opportunities to increase flow by reducing non value added work based on non value added work volume, percentage of total work, and growth trend.
Recommendations: This panel on top of the dashboard gives recommendations on projects which have the highest opportunity rank to reduce non value added work.
By Project: This panel displays a list of projects with non value added related metrics to help you understand the percentage of non value added work in each project. The metrics displayed are Non Value Added WI %, number of Non Value Added WI, Growth% in Non Value Added Work, and the Opportunity Rank.
